CALENDAR PROJECT 五金行日曆 2020｜設計制定
This calendar project is an exploration and a small tribute to tradition. A calendar that one tears off a page after each day ends is a typology unique to Asia. We don't see many young people using this type of calendar these days because the social context is now so different. However, we as a design studio have always admired this typology and the important social and functional story behind it, so we decided to revisit the design and update it for today.
For the 2020 calendar, there are few exciting changes we made for 2020:
- Precut line: All copies will be upgraded to pre-cut line version
- Packaging: The packaging of 2020 calendar, inspired by a daily grocery bag, is a shopping bag made from Tyvek (a tough, recyclable, paper-like material by DuPont) printed with neon and metallic pattern. Thus, there will be no box for 2020.
- 100% manual binding, from 1/1 to 12/31, all 385 pages.
- Super fine 30gsm paper used (0.05mm thickness each page
- More than 85 illustrations for special days like New Year, Valentine's Day, Christmas were created
- Gift: As you can see from the product images, there are two kinds of keychain as gifts for 2020:
- A. cool as ice cream / B. hello, superstar : ).
- 10 Pantone colours (5 neon + 2 metallic + 1 pastel + 2 solid colours)

包裝：2020年日曆的包裝，靈感來自日常雜貨袋，是由Tyvek（一種堅韌，可回收，DuPont 紙質材料）製成的購物袋，印有金屬和螢光色圖案。因此，2020年將沒有包裝紙盒。
製作明年 366 天途中，與其說是設計，對我們而言更像是編輯的過程。除了老祖宗別具智慧的二十四節氣系統，也因為看到海馬蜷曲著人類的棉花棒垃圾，而放進世界海洋日，提醒自己少用塑膠；水逆不知不覺變成諸事不順的好理由，所以私心的全年度都寫下；媽祖娘娘遶境很累很忙，畫下媽祖生，好好祝她生日快樂。366 天中，有舊的熟識，也有新的彩蛋，在過日子的同時，我們希望藉由插畫給與週遭更多祝福。
2020，如銀翼殺手世界奇幻也好，如煙飛槍淋政治殘酷也好，對於新年我們經常過度寄望，但總是希望遇見更好的自己。五金行日曆，一如往常，明年繼續陪大家過。
