11 years after its launch, 1616 / arita japan has completed its first concept book.
Titled “A Brief Moment ( ) A Long Tradition,” the book contains the brand’s thoughts and a variety of products that add color to various moments in people’s lives around the world, while connecting the long history of Arita porcelain, which dates back more than 400 years.
The lineup includes the history of Arita porcelain and Momota Touen, contributions by 1616 / arita japan creative director and designer Teruhiro Yanagihara, and the full collection by 4 designers. In addition, art presentations on the theme of TY Palace Plate by Arita craftsmen involved in the production of products and 16 creators active around the world are included in the 9 contents, which are composed of a variety of approaches.
The free and rich art direction is by All the Way to Paris, a Copenhagen-based design studio. Printing was done by Narayana Press, a Danish company that specializes in art books and boasts the world’s most advanced printing technology. The beautiful photographs, text, and artwork in the book express the brand’s worldview.
